Hello,
Today, let's talk about the "delayed" melanin phenomenon!
In July, under the action of UV rays, your melanocytes (the cells that make skin pigment) produce melanin to create your tan and protect your skin's DNA. So far, so good.
But what happens at the end of August?
When sun exposure decreases and the body relaxes, the oxidative stress that built up under the skin over weeks resurfaces. The free radicals created by UV rays keep quietly doing damage in the background.
In response, "panicked" melanocytes send a surplus of pigment to a targeted area: that's the sudden appearance of a brown spot. So it's not yesterday's sun that created the spot, but the oxidation accumulated over the whole month.
Why Surface Creams Aren't Enough
Applying an anti-spot serum or a brightening cream to the skin's surface treats the consequence, not the cause. If the underlying cell stays in a state of oxidative stress and inflammation, the spot will come back with the slightest bit of sun.
To defuse the process, you need to cut the oxidation signal from the inside.
3 Expert Reflexes to Stop the Late-August Rebound Effect
1/ Don't give in to the temptation of harsh scrubbing:
Scrubbing your skin to "erase" the spot only sends a signal of aggression to the skin. The skin defends itself by producing... even more melanin! Stick to very gentle cleansing.
2/ Flood your cells with targeted antioxidants:
To put out the free radical fire, the body needs nutrients able to neutralize oxidation. Zinc, paired with antioxidant vitamins, is the key mineral to slow down the disorderly activity of melanocytes.
3/ The cellular hydration reflex with Onday:
Dehydrated skin eliminates toxins very poorly and amplifies inflammation. By drinking your Onday in the morning on an empty stomach, you provide a highly bioavailable cocktail of electrolytes, zinc and magnesium. Your cells rehydrate deeply, oxidative stress drops, and your skin regains its natural ability to regulate its pigments.
Skin's beauty at the end of summer doesn't depend on what you apply to it, but on your cells' ability to neutralize the season's stress!
Wishing you a lovely end of August!
Arthur
